Lou Savarese, former Heavyweight Champion, created The Savarese Amateur Association with the goal of harboring self-confidence and self-worth for young men and women. Many amateur and professional fighters are at-risk youths who are not able to afford the equipment and gym fees associated with boxing. With the help of Savarese Fight Fit and our highly qualified coaches, we want to teach all the art of boxing.

Lou started Savarese Fight fit to bring out the heart of a champion to everyone that walks through our door.  His goal is to push you physically and mentally to empower, make you stronger to find your courage, and instill confidence to be able to tackle life’s battles.

At our boxing gym in Houston, Texas, our focus is to help our clients with their day to day battles in life. It doesn’t matter how many *hits* you take in life – financial, mental, physical, or emotional, learning how to handle them is what builds character.

Boxing teaches you to come back stronger and smarter after each session, and to toughen up for bumps still to come. When working out on the punching bag, your brain increases the production of endorphins, the neurotransmitters that create feel-good thoughts. Punching helps to relieve muscle tension that can collect when you experience stress. As you continue to punch, you will find your focus is improved, increasing your concentration and helping you forget the reasons why one is stressed.

Boxing requires you to fully concentrate on the task at hand. To box well, you need to be able to switch off from the outside world and be 100% focused. Boxing is fast, furious, and above all fun, leaving little room in your head for anything else. Being able to avert daily stresses can help you to truly take time out, giving you a fresh perspective to better deal with problems, or things that are bothering any individual.

There’s no proof that fitness boxing is superior to any other types of exercise, but it does have many health benefits. One is strength. You move the muscles of your arms and shoulders, increasing your upper-body strength and when you’re in the boxer stance, with your knees slightly bent, you’re strengthening your core muscles, back, and legs.

We get your heart pumping and helps lower the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. It can strengthen bones and muscles, burn more calories than your average workout, and lifts your mood.  Our coaches will boost your endurance over time, building better balance and eye-hand coordination.
